THE DESIGNER
eng: Andie Viggiano is a freelance textile designer from Argentina, based in Buenos Aires. Her work includes pattern design, collection development and finished product for brands that appreciate handmade work.

esp: Andie Viaggiano es una diseñadora Argentina textil independiente, radicada en Buenos Aires. Su trabajo incluye diseño de patrones, desarrollo de colecciones y producto terminado para marcas que aprecien el trabajo hecho mano.
STORY
eng: She learnt to knit when she was a child by participating in small workshops, then she studied to become a textile designer, which gave her a very interesting background. Jacquard was a self- taught technique. She relied a lot on what she learned investigating yarn techniques in college.

esp: Ella aprendió a tejer cuando era niña participando de pequeños talleres, luego estudió para convertirse en diseñadora textil, lo que enriqueció ampliamente su trabajo. Aprendió jacquard a mano de manera autodidacta, apoyándose mucho en las investigaciones de técnica de hilados que realizó durante sus estudios.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
eng: Her creative process starts by searching for inspiration. She finds most of it in nature, but she also gets inspired by different art forms like music, cinema, and paintings. She has a sketchbook where she draws her ideas and when her work is ready she makes a digital version of it. After that, she knits the patterns and apply them on different products until she arrives at a final version. All her products are handmade.

esp: Su trabajo creativo empieza con la búsqueda de inspiración. Su mayor fuente es la naturaleza, pero también se inspira en diferentes formas de arte como la música, el cine y la pintura. En su libro de bocetos dibuja sus ideas y cuando su trabajo esta listo hace una versión digital de el. Luego teje los diseños aplicándolos a diferentes formatos hasta que llega a una versión definitiva. Todos sus productos están hechos a mano.
TECHNIQUES
eng: In the beginning she experimented with different materials and techniques. It took her a while to find out which of them she felts more comfortable to work with. She works with pure cotton from local yarn manufacturers. She recently visited Perú to study natural dyeing processes and she´s currently working on her personal natural color palette.

esp: En un principio experimentó con diferentes materiales y técnicas. Tomó un tiempo descifrar cual era la mas adecuada. Actualmente trabaja con algodón puro manufacturado por hilanderos locales. En un viaje de estudios reciente a Perú estudió el proceso de tintes naturales, trabajo que actualmente esta desarrollando para lograr su paleta personal de colores.
